About the Work

“El mar se levanta (The Sea is Rising)” is an eco-feminist photography project that uses my body as a marker to point to the unstoppable erosion and contamination of garbage along the pacific coastline of Ecuador. I have been documenting plastics washing along the shore and the shifting shoreline caused by erosion over the last two years. The project expresses my growing anxiety around climate change through the juxtaposition of my body with a place where the impacts of climate change are visible.
