About the Work
My embroidery work weaves a generational history and retrospection of Puerto Rican needleworkers by referencing the continued modern-day demands of labor and socioeconomic/ecological realities. This new series of works combines the soon-to-be gentrified landscapes of both The Bronx and Puerto Rico, identifying places and spaces of urban ecotones - a transition area between two biological communities where they meet and integrate.
