Latinx Communities in the Wake of Far-Right Politics

In the wake of Trump's election to a second term, this panel will bring together leading experts, scholars, and community leaders to critically examine the evolving relationship between far-right ideologies and Latinx communities.. The resurgence of far-right ideologies and the growing influence of populist rhetoric have raised urgent questions about the future of American democracy, national identity, and social cohesion. At the heart of this shifting political landscape is the Latinx community, one of the nation’s fastest-growing and most diverse demographic groups. Historically, the Latinx community has played a pivotal role in U.S. elections, often acting as a political swing group that shapes the outcome of key races across the country. However, the intersection of far-right politics with Latinx experiences has begun to reshape political affiliations, create divisions within the community, and challenge long-held ideas about what it means to be Latino in America.

This panel is organized by NYU Wagner and ALAS. It is co-sponsored by The Latinx Project.
